3/28/2024 0 Comments Logitech harmony remotes![]() To add new smarthome devices to your Logitech Harmony remote, open the Harmony app on your phone or tablet and expand the right sidebar. The closer you follow these instructions to the letter, and in the proper order, the less chance you have of running into a problem. While Logitech makes some great hardware, their software is not very good, and things can go wonky and get confusing very easily (especially when it comes to remotes with the Harmony Hub). NOTE: If you can, try to follow these instructions as closely as possible. Then, come back here to add smarthome control to your remote. This assumes you already have a Logitech Harmony universal remote set up for your home theater-so if you haven't done so already, check out our Harmony guide for the initial setup process. In the file ‘harmony_REMOTENAME.Unlike home theater devices, you cant fully program your remote using the MyHarmony desktop software-you hae to use the Harmony app for iOS or Android to perform some of the setup. This may seem contrary to what you may have read about some Harmony models including the Harmony 9 remotes, using RF (when used with the RF Wireless Extender ). Harmony remotes cannot control RF devices. The specified activity can either be the activity name or the activity ID from the configuration file written to your Home Assistant configuration directory. All Harmony models, including the new Harmony 300, can only control IR (infrared) devices. Will start the default activity from configuration.yaml if no activity is specified. Turn off all devices that were switched on from the start of the current activity. Harmony hubbased remotes work with Harmony Hub and control your devices using a WiFi or Bluetooth signal, IR remotes do not work with Harmony Hub and control your devices using an infrared signal. This file will be overwritten whenever the Harmony HUB has a new configuration, there is no need to restart Home Assistant.
